To Boldly Go sails through our solar system with narration by Star Trek’s Mr. Sulu, George Takei, and a brilliant program performed by the Minnesota Orchestra. This dazzling symphonic exploration will include great scores from your favorite science fiction adventures—like Star Wars, Close Encounters of the Third Kind and, of course, Star Trek—as well as selections from Gustav Holst’s The Planets. Also part of this amazing adventure: scores of stunning NASA images obtained from the Mars Exploration Rovers and the Hubble Space telescope, all projected on a giant screen behind the Orchestra.

Come along for a galactic voyage like none other, an intriguing journey through space and time—a guided musical tour to infinity and beyond. Beam us up, Scotty!

Come early for the costume contest, Tang martini specials and fresh popped popcorn (snacks and beverages permitted during the concert). You’ll also enjoy movie trivia before the concert and during intermission in the concert hall.

COSTUME CONTEST! Cities 97 DJ Brian Oake will host a pre-concert costume contest in the lobby starting at 7pm each night. Come dressed as your favorite sci-fi character for your chance to win great prizes, including two round-trip tickets on Northwest Airlines (grand-prize), a one night stay at Westin hotel in downtown Minneapolis with dinner at The Bank restaurant (runner-up) and tickest for two to any Minnesota Orchestra concert (third-place). Winners will be chosen each evening by a panel of three judges.
