December in Los Cabos

One week before the first December snowstorm hit Minneapolis, I booked a flight to Mexico. It was the best decision I've made in years!

Thanks to the first snowstorm of winter 2007, I missed my connecting flight and grabbed this Embraer puddle-jumper in Houston.
I've jumped out of planes bigger than this. Here's the view from 2A...and I thought they'd upgraded me to first class!
Snow and traffic pile-ups on the ground are quickly forgotten once you get above the clouds.
After a brief nap, I woke up over Torreone. Yes, it's cramped, but I still love to fly.
Look closely at this picture...what do you see? Click "next" for a magnified view.
This land formation looks like a fetal ultrasound...which made me think of Katie and John who have a baby on the way!
This is near Durango, in the Mexican interior. Such an amazing variety of terrain.
Okay, so I get a little snap-happy when it comes to mountains. After all, I hardly ever see 'em.
If there's a Mexican version of "Lord of the Rings" coming on film, it could be shot here.
It's fascinating how people manage to eke out a living on the patches of green amidst rocks and sand.
Look! A lake! I wonder how big it was before global warming.

Yeah, yeah, another one of the lake. I had to take it...the sun came out and that changes everything!
Baja!!! Cabo here we come!
Tracing the west coast of the Baja peninsula.
Arroyos—dried up river beds—still know how to reach the sea.
Now's the time to have a parachute on. I'd said no jumping on this trip, but when I see a view like this, I'm tempted.
My favorite color is green, especially as worn by millions and millions of leaves.
The flight path into Cabo took us out to sea, with a U-turn back to the airport.
In cooler climes, this would be a rushing river. Here in Mexico, it's a winding trail of sand.
